Apple iPhone 5 Official Prices in India
After months of speculation and anticipation around the iPhone 5 launch in India, we have a final confirmation of the device’s debut on 02nd November and in this post, I am going to write about the iPhone 5 official prices in India.
Unlike all the earlier iPhone launches in India where it was made available to the public only through carriers (Airtel and Aircel), Apple will also sell an unlocked version of iPhone 5. This is a step towards Apple’s new strategy to define new ways to distribute the iPhone in India and to achieve this, Apple has appointed Ingram Micro and Redington India as the authorised distributors in India.
This will help Apple gain more ground in a huge market like India.
Although, the device has already been available at premium rates in grey market through websites like ebay and olx.in, this announcement marks the official launch of the Apple flagship handset in India.
iPhone 5 Official Prices in India
The official prices for iPhone 5 in India have been revealed and iPhone 5 is supposed to be made available in 5 cities in the first round of Indian launch starting 02 Nov. It is already up for pre-order on Airtel India and Aircel website and they promise to deliver it in the next 6-8 days.
The iPhone 5 is also available to pre-order directly from Ingram Micro and Redington India online. The advantage you get by not buying from Airtel or Aircel is that you will not be locked onto any network and can instead use any SIM card you want to.
The 16 GB variant of the iPhone 5 will ship for Rs. 45,500 in India while the 32 GB and 64 GB models will be available for Rs. 52,500 and Rs. 59,500 respectively.
- 16 GB – Rs. 45,500
- 32 GB – Rs. 52,500
- 64 GB – Rs. 59,500
All the 3 memory variants will be available in 2 colours – Black & Slate and White & Silver.
Just to remind you, this iPhone 5 launch in India was a clear indication after Apple made a cut iPhone 4 and 4S prices in India last month. The iPhone 4S 16GB model is available for Rs 41,400 in India and the price for the iPhone 4 (8GB) is Rs 28,300.
With festival season on its way in India, do you think Apple will be available to increase its share in the Indian mobile market (which currently stands at 1.2% today!)?
Thoughts?
